Craftsmanship

Pieces are produced in small runs or made to order using experienced craftspeople.

Each piece is hand-finished. Subtle variation is natural--especially in handwriting and engraved designs, where individuality is the point.

Fine jewelry naturally evolves with wear. Light surface changes and patina over time are normal and not considered flaws. They reflect a piece that is lived in and uniquely yours.

Care

Fine jewelry is made to be worn. Put jewelry on after perfume, lotion, sunscreen, or hairspray, and remove it before swimming, exercising, or sleeping.

Cleaning

A soft jewelry cloth is all most pieces need.

Avoid polishing dips, abrasive cleaners, stiff brushes, or vigorous scrubbing, which can gradually wear finishes and dull polished surfaces.

Sterling Silver

Sterling silver naturally develops tarnish through exposure to air and humidity.

Interestingly, pieces that are worn regularly often tarnish less than those left unworn for long periods. Storing silver in a dry place and giving it an occasional wipe with a jewelry cloth will usually keep it looking its best.

White Gold & Patina

White gold naturally has a soft, warm-gray tone. Many white gold pieces are finished with rhodium plating to create a brighter white appearance.

Over time, that rhodium finish may gradually soften through everyday wear. This is normal and can be refreshed with professional replating if desired.

Gold-Plated Details

Some Montkai pieces feature gold-plated details. To help preserve the finish, avoid polishing plated surfaces with a jewelry cloth or abrasive cleaners, as repeated polishing can gradually wear the plating over time.

A Piece That Lives With You

Fine jewelry naturally evolves with wear. Light surface marks, a softened finish, and the subtle character that develops over time are not flaws—they're part of a piece that's been worn, enjoyed, and made your own.
