Montkai Limited Warranty

Last updated: February 16, 2026

At Montkai, each piece is crafted in solid precious metals and thoughtfully produced to be worn and kept for years to come. We stand behind the quality of our craftsmanship.

This Limited Warranty defines what is and is not covered, and how claims are handled.

1. Scope of Coverage

Montkai warrants that your jewelry will be free from manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship for one (1) year from the date the carrier confirms delivery.

Covered manufacturing defects include:

  • Structural failures (e.g., broken solder joints, clasp malfunctions)

  • Porosity or casting flaws in precious metal

  • Missing pavé or accent stones under 0.10ct, provided the loss is due to a setting failure and not physical trauma

  • Stone loss due to verified setting failure

  • Faulty clasps, closures, or links caused by manufacturing defect

  • Production errors in engraving or personalization

All determinations of defect vs. wear are made at Montkai’s sole discretion after inspection.

This warranty is valid only for the original purchaser or original gift recipient and is non-transferable.

2. Plated Items (Rhodium & Palladium)

Some Montkai pieces are finished with rhodium or palladium plating to enhance brightness and durability.

  • Plating wear is a natural result of friction, skin chemistry, and exposure

  • Fading or rub-off is normal wear, not a defect

  • Replating every 6–12 months is considered routine maintenance

  • Replating is not covered under warranty

3. Unauthorized Service (“Void” Clause)

Any repair, resizing, engraving, or service performed by a third party immediately voids this warranty in its entirety.

Once a piece has been subjected to unauthorized heat, pressure, or mechanical alteration, Montkai cannot guarantee structural integrity.

4. Critical Exclusions

This warranty does not cover:

Center Stone Loss or Damage

  • Applies to stones over 0.10ct

  • Warranty covers the setting (prongs) but not the high-value stone itself

  • We strongly recommend independent jewelry insurance for center stones

Normal Wear & Tear

Including:

  • Scratches, dents, or patina

  • Thinning or bent prongs from snagging

  • Misshapen bands from daily activity

  • Chain stretching or bending from wear

Chemical Damage

Damage from chlorine, bleach, perfumes, cosmetics, or harsh cleaners.

Loss or Theft

This is a craftsmanship warranty, not insurance against loss or theft.

Improper Care or Accidental Damage

Including impact, pressure, or misuse.

Natural Characteristics

Inclusions, color variation, or natural gemstone characteristics are not defects.

5. Custom & Personalized Pieces

Custom, bespoke, or personalized items (including handwriting jewelry and engravings):

  • Are final sale

  • Are not eligible for return or exchange

  • Are covered under this warranty only for manufacturing defects

Design preferences or aesthetic judgments are not defects.

7. Repairs Outside Warranty

8. Jewelry Insurance Recommendation

We strongly recommend insuring fine jewelry through a specialized jewelry insurer or personal policy.

Insurance provides the best protection against loss, theft, or significant damage.

9. Inspection Timing Requirement

Customers are expected to inspect their jewelry upon receipt and periodically thereafter.

Claims should be submitted promptly after discovery of an issue. Unreasonable delays in reporting may affect eligibility.

10. Proper Care Requirement

This warranty assumes reasonable care and proper use consistent with fine jewelry.

Failure to properly care for jewelry may void warranty coverage.

11. Proof of Purchase

Valid proof of purchase is required for all warranty claims.

12. Right to Substitute Materials

If an identical replacement is unavailable, Montkai reserves the right to substitute materials of equal value and quality.

13. Disclaimer of Implied Warranties

To the fullest extent permitted by law, this Limited Warranty replaces all other warranties, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose.

14. Limitation of Liability

Montkai’s liability is limited to repair, replacement, or merchandise credit and shall not exceed the original purchase price.

Montkai is not responsible for:

  • Incidental or consequential damages

  • Emotional or sentimental value

  • Loss of use

  • Third-party repair costs

15. Governing Law

This warranty is governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey.
