The Clairmont Custom Process

Your story starts with a name.

We translate personal signals into original form, beginning with your handwriting.

Because each Clairmont piece begins with your writing, a proof approval is required before production.

Submit Your Handwriting

With your purchase, we’ll request a handwriting sample.

For best results:

  • Write in dark ink on clean white paper

  • Use your natural handwriting (don’t overthink it)

  • Photograph in bright, even light without shadows

Submitting someone else’s handwriting is welcome. By submitting handwriting, you confirm you have the right to share and reproduce it.

A Note on Scale

Clairmont is produced at fine-jewelry scale, typically around 1–1.25 inches in total length.

At this scale:

  • Very compressed or tightly squished writing may not translate clearly

  • Extremely elongated script may exceed workable length

  • Some micro-details may not remain visible once made

Length guidance:

Most Clairmont designs work best with 3–9 letters. If a submission isn’t viable at this size, we’ll guide you before proofing.

Orientation & Layout

Clairmont is designed by default in a horizontal orientation, following the natural flow of handwriting across the chain.

If you’re interested in a vertical layout, you’re welcome to reach out. Some scripts translate beautifully this way, while others do not.

Multiple Names or Words

Clairmont is designed for a single name or word.

If you’re considering multiple names or words, please contact us first so we can review feasibility and balance.

Combining names can sometimes create:

  • visual imbalance

  • uneven weight distribution

  • proportions that don’t sit comfortably when worn

If a multi-name design is possible, a custom fee may apply.

How We Translate Your Writing

Your handwriting is translated into a design suitable for fine jewelry.

Small refinements may be made for:

  • spacing and balance

  • stroke thickness for strength

  • clarity at jewelry scale

Some letter connections may be subtly reinforced to ensure durability. Floating elements are not structurally viable and therefore not produced. Detached dots or marks are integrated into the design where possible.

Not all symbols or decorative marks translate at this scale. We’ll advise if an adjustment is needed.

Proof Review & Revisions

You’ll receive a digital proof before production.

Please review carefully:

  • spelling

  • letter case

  • spacing and proportions

  • overall look and feel

Your piece will be produced as shown in your approved proof. Please note that the proof is a digital rendering and the physical product may differ slightly in lighting, texture, and surface finish due to the bespoke manufacturing process.

Each design includes up to two rounds of refinements. Additional redesigns may require a fee. Once approved, your piece moves into production and cannot be changed.

Production & Timeline

Production timelines begin after proof approval.

Typical production is 3–5 weeks from approval. Timelines may vary slightly based on sourcing and workshop volume.

Materials & Wear

Clairmont pieces are crafted in solid gold, never plated.

Designed for everyday wear, but like all fine jewelry, delicate areas should be worn with care and may bend if subjected to force.

Final Sale

Because Clairmont is custom-made from your handwriting and approved by you prior to production, custom pieces are final sale.

Privacy

We may share anonymized or cropped process imagery to show the making behind Clairmont — never personal details. If you’d prefer your piece remain private, simply let us know.
