Personalization

Each personalized piece begins with meaning. The following guidance helps ensure your story is translated beautifully into jewelry.

Can Montkai create pieces in languages other than English?

Yes. We welcome submissions in many languages and scripts. Jewelry can be a powerful way to carry words from your own culture, family, or personal history.

For personalized pendants and text-based designs, like the Bria and Rosemere, most languages can be accommodated. If you’re unsure whether a script will translate well into jewelry, feel free to reach out and we’re happy to advise.

How does personalization work?

Many Montkai pieces allow for personal elements such as handwriting, initials, or meaningful text.

For handwriting-based designs like Clairmont, you’ll submit a sample after purchase and receive a digital proof before production.

For full details on handwriting submissions and proofing, please see the Clairmont page.

Will my handwriting or submitted text be altered?

We preserve the character and natural variation of your submission, whether it’s handwriting, text, or a meaningful mark.

Minor refinements may be made so the design translates well into fine jewelry scale and remains structurally sound, but the goal is always to retain personality—not perfection.

If a submission isn’t viable, we’ll guide you toward a suitable alternative.

What if I don’t love the proof?

Proofs are provided to confirm balance, scale, and layout.

Refinements can be made before production begins.

Once a proof is approved, production moves forward and changes are no longer possible.

Can you help me choose a font or lettering style?

Because our focus is on translating personal signals into jewelry, we don’t offer open font exploration. Clients typically come to us with handwriting or a font they already feel connected to, and we translate that into a piece designed to last.

FAQ: Materials, Care & Orders

Thoughtful materials and craftsmanship deserve thoughtful care.

For shipping, returns, and delivery details, please refer to our Shipping & Returns page.

Where are Montkai pieces made?

All Montkai pieces are currently crafted in New York City’s Diamond District, working with experienced craftspeople and solid precious metals.

How should I care for my Montkai jewelry?

Montkai pieces are crafted in solid precious materials and designed for regular wear, including normal movement and daily contact.

Like all fine jewelry, they benefit from mindful care. We recommend gently wiping with a soft cloth after wear, storing in a dry place, and avoiding harsh chemicals or impact.

For more detailed guidance, please see our Care & Craftsmanship page.

What if there’s an issue with my piece?

Each piece is reviewed personally by our founder prior to shipping. If something arrives damaged, contact us promptly and we’ll work with you to make it right.

Are your diamonds certified?

For pieces that include diamonds, we use high-quality, lab grown, DEF/VS+ stones. Specific certification details (e.g., lab grading reports) depend on the piece.
